Don’s meets more than just your heating and cooling needs

A big part of being a strong business in a small town is about having more than just the know-how when it comes to operating your business. It means the capability to integrate yourself as a part of the community, to develop customer relationships that can last, and to be able to adapt to the needs of the residents in that community. For Don’s Heating and Cooling, that has been just a natural progression of their company. In its humble beginnings, Don Roper began the business by canvassing door-to-door to help Orangeville transition to using gas as a source of heating, and helping people replace and update their furnaces. Over the years the company has grown, but has maintained its small-town business feel, and rooted its operations in being a family business. Now, Don works along with his son, daughter and son-in-law to provide the residents of Orangeville, Alliston and the surrounding areas with the highest quality of service they can. While Don’s has a large focus on heating and cooling, the company has expanded to include all aspects of that field, and more. Along with having fully trained sheet metal mechanics, they have refrigeration mechanics, an electrician and all their techs are fully qualified in HVAC. They also provide 24 hour-service, something that can be hard for people in smaller communities to gain access to. Last year, Don opened a second showroom, which is located in Alliston. It spans 2500 square feet, and allows them to showcase everything from fireplaces (both gas and electric), to heating and cooling options, central vacs, and even barbecues. “Everybody thinks that we are just a heating and air conditioning company, but we are so much more than that,” explained Don. Gas fireplaces are one of the big sellers, with seven on display in the Orangeville store, and 17 on display in Alliston. They also feature a variety of electric fireplaces and wood burning fireplaces; practically everything one would want options of for heating in the winter. This summer, Don added, they want to be thought of as something being so much more than helping keep your home cool or warm. “This summer, we want you to think of us as your barbecue specialists,” he said. “Starting in the next month we will be bringing in a wide range of top quality barbecues for sale at our stores.” Both locations will carry Napoleon and Weber BBQs, and The Green Egg will be offered in Alliston and Traeger smokers will be offered in Orangeville. “Barbecuing is big in Canada, and it is becoming larger every year,” said Don. “People are getting tired of buying disposable barbecues from big box stores. The barbecues we offer are strong brands. We only sell Canadian and North American made, quality barbecues.” Along with the barbecues, Don’s Heating and Cooling also carries a full assortment of accessories which are aimed at enhancing your barbecue experience. “From lighters right through to charcoal, pellets and wood chips, we carry all of the things that make your barbecue experience so much more enjoyable,” he added. Even when it comes to things like the charcoal or wood chips, Don’s goes all the way to ensure their clients are receiving the best quality products. They not only sell real wood chips, but also sell brands of charcoal that are 100 percent organic lump-coal instead of the typical brickettes. “This makes a huge difference in flavour,” said Don. The accessories they carry, which includes mats to protect your deck from burning or grease, built-in rotisseries, smoking trays and more, are all designed to help enhance the entire backyard experience. “We want people to think of us as more than heating and cooling specialists,” Don reiterated. “When people think of us, we want them to think of us as their barbecue specialists for the summer of 2016 — as the ones who will give them the best enhancements on their backyard enjoyment this year, at both of our locations.” For more information, or to inquire about one of the services Don’s Heating and Cooling provides, visit their website at http://www.donsheatingandcooling.com/ or contact them by phone at 519-942-1568
